Mission Statement
The Kingston Chess Club (KCC) exists to promote chess, to provide opportunities for play, and to organize competitions. The KCC aims to improve the level of play of its members by engaging in various activities including, but not limited to: teaching, simultaneous exhibitions and lectures. The KCC and this website provide a forum for chess players to meet each other and to share information about chess.
Design and Credits
The blue themed links on our Main Menu reflect Kingston's strategic position at the head of the mighty St. Lawrence River and the entrance to the Great Lakes. The blocks in the club logo and the decorative flash banner on the home page as well as the watermark at the bottom left of each page are intended to suggest both a stylized chess board and the ubiquitous construction material that gives Kingston its nickname; the Limestone City. The red maple leaf is of course a proud symbol of Canada, the greatest country in the world.
The credit (or blame!) for this web site design belongs to the webmaster, Wayne A. Coppin. The design has been adapted from one of Wayne's personal websites and provided to the Kingston Chess Club as a public service. Under his web designation, Quixote's Horse, Wayne has designed and maintains a number of web sites for professional clients. Have a look at the Loughborough Lake Holiday Park and the Canadian Guitar Festival for a couple of examples of his work.
